Bus Ridership

Being polite on the bus is important. You don't want to be the jerk that ruined someones day because you were rude on the bus. You also don't want to be rude and end up in some jerks blog about the bus. That's exactly what happened this week when two young men started fighting on my way to school this Thursday.

No one wants to be on the bus at 8 am, but some times it happens. unfortunately this happened to me this Thursday when I needed to be at school. So I waited at my bus stop, my bus came on time, I hopped on and found a comfy seat at the back. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at all this day, every one was nice, no ones music was too loud, just a very enjoyable bus ride. This all changed when I got downtown.

My bus stopped at Portage and Fort like always. A man hopped on who clearly was drunk, and probably hadn't slept yet. He was a good rider though, he found a seat and kept to him self. By this time the bus was pretty full, so people were standing. Another young man jumped on board, he had a work helmet so I assume he was a construction worker, he stood beside the drunk half asleep guy. I didn't see exactly what happened but from what I heard the construction workers back pack was hitting the drunk guy. All of a sudden the drunk guy stood up and starting punching the construction worker. The bus driver slammed the breaks, and other riders tried to break it up.

The bus driver kicked the drunk guy off the bus, and how convenient, it was at my stop. So off the bus I go, me and my drunk companion. I tried to avoid him by walking fast, but he caught up and asked me for a cigarette, I told him I didn't have any and kept walking.

The moral of this story is, don't be an idiot and fight on the bus.
